Dec 26, 2013 - Building Security

Dear Unit Owners and Residents,

Dear Owners and Residents,
As you are all aware, we recently changed the locks for the externally facing common area doors. As a part of that process, we instituted a key policy to allow us to increase security long term through a more controlled method of access to keys. For more info on our Key Policy, contact a board member or see Section 8 of the Rules and Regulations at http://pickeringnorth.com/rules-regulations.

Security of the building also relies upon making sure we are careful about whom we allow into the building. We have not had any reported issues lately, but wanted to take a moment to talk about allowing  people into the building.

  1. Do not prop open doors or hold the door for strangers.
  2. Do not buzz people in unless they are your guests.

If someone buzzes you and says that they “forgot their key”, “are delivering food” (for another unit), “are a building contractor”, or any other reason, please go downstairs and let them in manually to make  sure they are who they say they are. If you do not feel comfortable doing that, do not let them in. Individual unit owners are responsible for anyone they let in, regardless of relationship (or lack of).

Please stay on the side of caution. Granting access to the building compromises the security of the building and the safety of your neighbors.

Thank you,
The Pickering North Condominium Association
Board of Managers
